We’re lucky that New Haven is host to so many great specialty shops.  Caseus, a cheese shop/bistro that opened a year ago, is one of them and boasts one of the most extensive cheese selections in the city, along with selling the best jamón serrano.  I managed to get Michael there on a Saturday and we bought two kinds of cheeses (one being, of course, a Manchengo), a half pound of the serrano, and some Spanish sardines in the tin.  The sardines we saved for another day, but we decided to have a selection of tapas, including such classics as sauteed fennel and marinated mushrooms–a perfect way to enjoy a Saturday in the early spring.
